The Food Parcel Monitoring and Distribution Application provides a secure, convenient method for the distribution of food parcel payments onto UEPS smart cards. The system is designed for Governments/Charity Organizations or agencies who distribute food parcels or benefits to beneficiaries on a monthly basis.

The distribution of electronic value is less time-consuming than the distribution of traditional food parcels or benefits. Therefore the costs normally associated with food parcel distribution such as administration, management, labor and transportation are significantly reduced. The potential for theft or fraud often linked to the payment of cash or delivery of benefits is thus also eliminated.

Using the UEPS technology, food parcel payments are paid electronically either online or offline directly into a restricted food parcel wallet on the smart card of the beneficiaries. The beneficiary can purchase food from this wallet at participating merchant stores and will not be able to draw cash, transfer funds to or from this wallet to the UEPS Primary/ Savings or Secondary Wallet.  Upon purchasing goods at participating merchants' stores the beneficiary’s food parcel wallet is debited with the value and the transaction record is stored on to the merchant operator card.  At daily settlement the transaction is stripped off the merchant operator card and processed via the System Host. 

The System provides MIS reporting for reconciliation purposes, monitoring un-claimed monthly food grants, daily registrations, etc.
