Bill payment services offered today by Financial Institutions allow for 3RD party bill payments to be made online to “REGISTERED” merchant accounts.

In order to offer convenience to our cardholders, the UEPS enhances this product to accommodate:

  • BILL PAYMENTS TO THE CARD HOLDER’S PERSONAL ACCOUNTS LINKED ON THE  SMART CARD (OFFLINE)
  • ONE-OFF BILL PAYMENTS TO ANY 3RD PARTY COMPANY (OFFLINE)
  • BILL PAYMENTS TO 3RD PARTY COMPANIES REGISTERED ON THE UEPS BACK-END SYSTEM (ONLINE)

1. Linked Accounts (Offline)

  • The cardholder has the option of LINKING up to eight (8) 3rd Party accounts to their smart card, irrespective of whether they are personal 3rd Party Bill accounts such as clothing, hire purchase, electricity or personal bank accounts held at various banks.  
  • All the linked accounts are stored on the smart card.

2. One-Off Accounts (Offline)

  • “ONE-OFF” bill payments enable the cardholder to make a one-off payment into a specified bank account of a 3rd Party Company who has not been registered on the UEPS System Host or Linked to their smart card.

3. Registered Merchant (Online)

  • Merchants who wish to make use of this payment facility can participate by completing a 3rd Party Registered Merchant Application form for registration onto the UEPS System Host.
  • Payments to 3rd Party Companies are processed via the Automated Clearing and Settlement System to their respective traditional bank accounts. 
  • Each morning the 3rd Party Company receives detailed MIS reports of all payments made to their bank accounts.
