The Wholesale Distribution product offers wholesalers the facility to eliminate the need of accepting payment in cash from distributors. This product operates in the same manner as the UEPS (Universal Electronic Payment System) Retail Application, except in this case the merchant/distributor is the client and the wholesaler becomes the merchant. The wholesaler completes a registration application form and is registered onto the System Host and issued with a Merchant Reference Number (MRN). The distributor registers for a UEPS client smart card and completes the Registration, Enrolment and Smart Card Issuing Process. The distributor needs to load electronic value onto his/her UEPS client smart card to effect payment for goods delivered by the wholesaler. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Payment for Goods Delivered: The wholesaler’s delivery vehicle is equipped with a portable UEPS POS device and a wholesaler operator smart card linked to the wholesalers MRN. Upon delivery of goods the distributor makes their payment to the wholesaler using their UEPS client smart card. The driver inserts the payment amount and the transaction value is debited offline real time from the distributor’s UEPS client smart card and the credit record is stored onto the driver wholesaler operator card. When the driver returns to the depot, the driver's wholesaler operator card is settled to the Switch and the funds less fees are paid into the nominated bank account of the wholesaler via the normal clearing and settlement system of the country. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Benefits for Wholesalers:
